Полуметровые
Полощет весело ночной пассат.
Им дверь открыл портье,

Откинулись, впуская моряков.
И не было забот,
И горе не придет -
Здесь люди объясняются без слов!
Здесь все повенчаны
С вином и женщиной.
Здесь быстро лечатся следы морщин.
Здесь души сильные,
Любвеобильные.
Здесь каждый бог, и царь, и господин!
Они уйдут чуть-свет.
Сегодня с ними Кэт.
О ней не мог мечтать и сам Жюль Верн:
Она, куда ни кинь,
Богиня из богинь
Заманчивых кейптаунских таверн.
Здесь пунши пенятся,
Здесь пить не ленятся,
Поют вполголоса, присев в кругу:
"Мы знаем гавани
Далеких плаваний,
Где жемчуг высыпан на берегу".
А в ночь ворвался в порт
Французский теплоход,
Облитый серебром прожекторов.
Когда бледнел рассвет,
Пришли в таверну Кэт
Четырнадцать французских моряков...
"Кончайте плавиться!"
"Привет, красавица!"
"Во имя Франции - на шлюпки груз!"…
Но спор в Кейптауне
Решает браунинг,
И на пол грохнулся гигант француз...
Когда пришла заpя
На южные моря,
"Жанетта" разбудила сонный поpт.
Но не пришли на зов
Все восемь моряков,
И больше не взойдут они на борт.
Им больше с гавани
Не выйти в плаванье,
И страны дальние не видеть вновь.
Их клеши новые,
Полуметровые,
Обильно пролита, смочила кровь...
В кейптаунском поpту
С какао на борту
"Жанетта" уходила на Сидней.
Без бурь тебе идти
В далекие пути,
Скиталица акуловых морей!..
